Outlook on android - receiving notifications, but emails don't show in inbox.

I use outlook for android (Motorola Moto G running Android 5.1) and it worked great until a couple of days ago. Now I get notifications of new emails, but the messages don't show up in my inbox. If I click a notification to try and read the email, it says 'Couldn't open message', and takes me back to my inbox, which shows only old messages.

Please help!

It will.  It's random.  Same here, all users are O365. Nothing else special going on.  Not trying to connect to a whole bunch of other accounts...just one.

My experience with it is that it happens sometimes.  If you are patient with it, it will eventually seem to resolve itself for a good stretch of time. BUT, it will come back, and if you're patient again, it will resolve.

However, for me, the time that it seems to happen is when I or a user need it the most. Sometimes emails get to be fairly real-time conversations, so having an hour or so delay in response, just because you're waiting for Outlook to "catch up", is not acceptable.

Yes, if you delete and recreate and all that jazz, it kind of forces the thing to get past that "be patient" stage.  But...REALLY???  Is this the instructions we should train all our users with?  "Use Outlook on your phone.  If it doesn't seem to be working, then delete the account and re-add.  If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall the app.  Oh, and this will happen often, so get used to it!"

Most all our users say "no thanks" I'll just use the Google provided email or gmail.

    Can't really argue with that!

Just had a user call and complain about this. New email notification received but no new emails in the inbox. He sent himself a test email and the new emails came in then. We're using office 365. I had him reset the account. We'll see if that helps.

Over a year later and it's still a problem. I guess Microsoft can't figure it out. Google has it working just fine...smart crew over there

    My current workaround is:

Settings - Accounts - Work account, Delete work account.

By doing this I dont have to reset/delete my O365 account.

I still get this problem about once a month, but now I have quick work around.

Work account re-appears into Accounts lists. I guess added automatically  by O365.

I'm having this problem with an Exchange server no matter what charge I'm at. Going into Settings>"Reset my account" fixes it, but its annoying.
