I am using the free version of Outlook.com and followed the forums and help how to set up a GMail sync to Outlook.com.

However since two days I got this clicking on the "Sync Email" menu.

Even the X button on the upper right corner does not operates when being in this menu.

I tried this menu in browsers like Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera.

All the same results.

Questions:

  1. can I use Gmail sync using free version of Outlook.com?
  2. do you know this

Unfortunately the idea that “unable to load” is caused by a server error and we should try again in a day does not work. I am on day ten or so of this error.

And its not the discontinued feature causing it..its not gmail, and the error just started recently.

I also was directed by an outlook system email to go to this setting to update a connection that is failing. Its failing because the email i was syncing to has been terminated (i know this…i dont need it anymore). But i cant fix it and now get the system email directing me to the sync Outlook setting that doesnt load every day!

With synchronizing your Gmail to Outlook.com, this is the same with connected accounts on Outlook.com, this option is no longer available on Outlook.com. Microsoft has removed this option since May 10, 2021.

Really? That is hard to believe.

    a) If they removed this important functionality, they must have informed us. I don't see any official article about this statement.

    b) Why is the option still available in the settings menu, producing an error?

It is very annoying to receive an email every day reminding me that one of my email accounts cannot sync when Microsoft has intentionally created the problem.

Setting up and maintaining an email account is just so basic.

I can't understand their logic in doing this as it simply annoys and alienated their customers.

I assume it's all about pushing us onto another one of their products which I didn't need until they did this.

ReynaldoB, this setting page is not just for setting external email sync.

There is also setting to change default "From" address (MS 365 Family - custom domain) but it is not accessible because of the "Unable to load..." error.

You can check answer on FAQ page:

Get a personalized email address in Microsoft 365
"How do I change the default "From" address used to send email with a personalized email address?"

    1. Go to your Outlook.com Email alias settings. <-- Link to Sync Email setting
    2. Set the default Fromaddressfrom the drop down of address available. <-- not possible, because of bug/error: "Unable to load these settings. Please try again later."

Well set out. But do you think Microsoft et al will understand?

Maybe they will understand a trivial point though:

Once on the Syn Email page, not even the X on top right used to close the page, works!

Hi I am facing the same problem the past few days. I want to access the sync email page in order to allow IMAP and the page is showing "unable to load these settings. Please try again later"

I have tried on my laptop and also tablet, this is obviously a problem with outlook.com.

Has anyone a solution to this or are there any agents from Microsoft reading this thread?
