Is there any way to disable junk-mail/spam filtering completely in Outlook.com? I'd prefer my Windows client to handle this locally, thus everything I receive to my @outlook.com address should be going into Inbox.

This does not work reliably! I have a address from my own webserver and emails get constantly sorted in junk email beside being in the safe sender list. This maybe could help in some cases, but I am sure there are cases with stronger junkmail rules by MS. Btw. your response from this thread (a Microsoft address itself) got sorted in junk. This is not stupid, this is beyond retarded.

    SOLUTION?

After 2 months or so of very frustrating correspondence involving around 20 emails backwards and forwards with Outlook Support, with some very pathetic attempts at solutions all failing, they have closed my case with what they deem a 'satisfactory solution'.

Their arrogance, ignorance, and refusal to acknowledge or accept there is a problem in the first place, absolutely astounds me! They consistently ignored my requests to provide an option to disable or remove their faulty spam filter.

Their solution, is to individually add every sender to the 'Safe Senders' list in the junk email setting of the option menu. About 90% of my trusted emails, including all the different ones from Microsoft itself, have all ended up in the junk mail to be deleted in 10 days if unnoticed, and have necessitated this annoying and time consuming process.

But they insist it is working as it was designed?

I even tried to point out to them that this procedure should only be necessary if the junk email filter was set to 'exclusive', which only allows emails from the trusted senders, 'Safe Senders' list. ..But my filter is, and always has, been  set to 'Standard'. (Only 2 settings available!)

In the last month or so I have been regularly checking my junk emails and adding safe and trusted senders to the Safe Senders list, averaging about 6 per week. Even today I had to add microsoftstore at e.microsoft.com to the list to prevent it from going to the junk mail in future.

On a positive note, it does appear to be working, as once manually added to the Safe Senders list, they as yet have not reappeared in the Junk Mail?

This also involved going online to the Outlook Mail, logging on and accessing the settings, which I would never usually do as I use an email client on my PC, (who's spam filter works brilliantly by the way).

Absolutely pathetic Microsoft, you treat myself and all the other Outlook users as fools, entirely unsatisfactory and shameful!

    Hi,

Junk email could be any unwanted, unsolicited, or illicit e-mail or other electronic messages, including spam. To help reduce the consequences of junk email,  Hotmail includes junk email protection. When an external user sends email messages to a Hotmail account, SmartScreen® filter technology evaluates the content of the messages and assigns the message a rating based on the probability that the message is junk email.

As what the previous moderator said, add the contact to your Safe senders list and to your Contacts list.

Also, Set your Junk mail filter setting to Exclusive. If you set your Junk mail filter level to Exclusive, only messages from your contacts and Safe senders lists will be allowed to go to your Inbox. Please follow the steps below:

    1. Sign in to your Outlook.com inbox.
    2. Go to Options-More mail settings.
    3. Under Preventing junk email, choose Filters and reporting.
    4. Under Choose a junk email filter, click on the radio button beside Exclusive.
    5. Click on Save.

    Thanks!

    Hi Thux12,

Please be informed that junk mail filter is included or embedded on the account, and there’s no way for us to disable it. If you wanted to receive emails direct to your inbox, you may add your contacts to your Safe Senders List. In adding contacts to Safe Senders List, please refer to the steps below:

Please be guided below on how to add an email address to your safe senders list:

    1.       Sign in here.

    2.       Select the gear icon located on the upper right corner of the page.

    3.       Click More mail settings.

    4.       Under Preventing junk email.

    5.       Click, Safe and blocked senders.

    6.       Click, Safe senders.

    7.       Enter the email address of the person that you want to mark as safe in the box labeled, Sender or domain to mark as safe: then click add to list>>.

Please refer to this link for additional information about your issue.

If you are not able to receive emails from custom domains and messages are going to your junk mail, kindly refer to this form we have provided you.

    Thanks!
