Cannot enable streaming in Windows 7.

When I click on the button "Turn on media streaming", it becomes grayed out for a second but nothing happens. The streaming is not enabled and the button still says "Turn on media streaming". I searched forums and came across people with the same issue but no fixes.

I went through steps suggested in this thread: Unable to turn on media streaming . I booted with all non-essential services disabled, that didn't help.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate RTM.

If you have set the Stream dropbox to 'allow other devices..." and they still won't stream, you either have a faulty device driver or you have corrupt system files. I would uninstall and reinstall Media Player, and the Media Center. There are checkboxes for that. Click Start, and type 'turn windows features on and off'. You need to uncheck, apply, restart windows, recheck, and apply, restart again.

Hi man, i just had the same issue ur experiencing.

im not really sure about whats going on in ur pc if im right u must have tuneup utilities program in your computer, which has turbo mode on and there is an option which turns off media streaming for a better performance of ur pc, if u can turn that thing off maybe it works.

I remember someone with this issue who found that a group policy setting was

preventing this. Might be worth checking..?

I'm using Tversity for now to share media, but it has a problem with SSDP service which I disabled to make TVersity work. Would be nice to have built-in Windows streaming working but I guess I will have to reinstall at some point - that't the only option I see right now.

How do you access the group policies?
