my brother just bought the surface pro 7, and initially the keyboard works, but after closing the type cover, once he returns, the keyboard does not work anymore, the driver cannot even be found. We tried all fixes, nothing except factory reset worked. It happened again today, a day later and we are perplexed. we cannot continue to factory reset every day for this keyboard type cover to work, what can be done??

I have tried every possible solution, I have an SP4 & SP7 and 2 sure-type covers, and an aftermarket moko cover (which is nowhere as easy to use). I have downloaded all possible patches, constantly cleaning the points, wiped my hard drive and started again, the problem persists with BOTH sure-type covers, I have the problem ONLY on the SP7.

On my umpteenth call with Microsoft......I was offered a replacement SP7, but because I am 4 months out of warranty I had to pay £437 (I am in the UK)....I wasted my time going to Microsoft shop in Oxford street in an attempt to do a quick exchange. It's only possible through the online or telephone support.

BTW in my final hard drive wipe whilst trying to cure the keyboard problem I LOST my Masters dissertation (fundamental school boy error, my One Drive was not backing up - everything lost).

Anyways I now have a NEW SP7 (non-retail packaging - 3 months warranty). it took about 6 days to arrive including returning my existing SP7 before Microsoft sent out a new one.

The new SP7 is working fine, no problem with the sure-type keyboard.

The moral of the story? get a replacement.

Hi, I am also experiencing this problem, so close to my thesis deadline.

I’ve had this SP7 for a year and half and sometimes it would disconnect and I have to detach/reattach them- and it’ll work for a while.

Today, it completely failed on me, the driver (SP type cover) is gone and after doing all the suggested trouble shoot and now reinstalling windows, it’s still is not working.

    Please advice

This is exactly what my SP7 is doing right now. I've tried every single thing suggested and feel like returning it all. Maybe I'll just hang onto it until the next update.

with the past windows update installed 3 days ago, my keyboard simple stop working and the driver disappear.

i find a temporary solution but i need Microsoft to fix it because it become from the last update.

what i discover is that when i put the keyboard on the magnetic connectors, i don't let the keyboard bend and stick to the tablet, I just let the connectors stick to the tablet

If I plug it in and fold it, the autorotate on message appears on the screen and the icons in the bar separate.

hope and Microsoft fix the issue

    regards
