Surface Pro 3 Slow WiFi - 72Mbps Max (driver)

I have an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11ac wireless router at home and am only connecting at a max of speed of 72Mbps (usually closer to 11Mbps if I'm more than 20 feet away from the WAP). I have two other 802.11ac laptops at home (Samsung AB9+ and rMBP) and my two other computers are connecting up at 800Mbps+ and pulling down the same on Internet speed tests; yes, I have real GigE connectivity. Is anyone else having these problems?

I don't normally post on this site but figured with so many people having issues I'd post a relatively easy fix that lets you get back the power management options - install the HyperV feature which then gives you access to change the level of the wifi on battery/powered. I too just recently purchased a Surface Pro 3 and was considering returning it as well but I'm better now.

I noticed having issues watching twitch streams on anything higher than medium and set out to figure out why. Came up to this and then this blog post http://photosofarkansas.com/2014/07/09/070813-power-management-and-wifi-issues-on-surface-pro-3-a-way-to-get-a-more-consistent-wifi-connection/

I kept my tablet on balanced and changed the wifi performance to medium power saving which stopped the hangups on twitch streams for me. Obviously you can set it however you like but installing Hyper-V will expose all the power saving options to allow modification.

I already try this and didnt work for me. If the computer goes to sleep i still loss wifi connection. Also this disable connected stand by...I think connected stand by works better than enabling HyperV

Ok Thank God I bought this through Best Buy which has a return policy of 45 days when you have spent enough money at their stores.

    Going to return it...

Going to get a Mac book and bootcamp it instead.

If you look at administrator events you will see several events for services crashing/stopping when you turn on and off the wireless. I have seen better system stability web you turn off the Device Setup manager service.

Out of curiosity can you guys check your event log and see if you have any critical errors pertaining to a bunch of services stopping or failing to start again.  Especially the Device Setup Manager.  Let me know if you see anything there.

Hey Anthony, can you provide some pointers on where exactly to look for Device Setup Manager info within the Event Viewer? Seeing lots and lots of different options and areas for information. Would happily provide this info if you could let me know specifically where to find it.

    Thanks!
