Surface Pro 4 Keyboard not working / type cover keyboard driver missing

Hi.

I have a surface Pro 4 and the type cover keyboard is not working.

The driver has gone missing (just shows HID keyboard device) so I can't do what the other forums have said an uninstall the driver.

I have installed the SP4 driver updates and still not working.

I also did the two-button restart and disabled/enabled the keyboard in UEFI. No joy.

This is really frustrating. Other people have this issue:

I'm on 10.0.18632 Build 18632 MS Windows 10 Pro

Can anyone help with this?

I work in the University, and I am recomending all students that ask me (and there are a lot), that don't buy a Microsoft device.

Well, Microsoft will be know that they stop selling hardware in a future like phones in the past.

Nice devices, nefarious company and support.

My keyboard has not worked since October 2020. I have two cover keyboards and tried everything even resetting my surface pro 4 and nada.

They wanted you to pay for an issue that they caused with an update in the first place??? That is ridiculous! 😡

Same happened briefly for me, then went back to the start. MS community had me do all the same things again (wipe my drive, reinstall, try a new keyboard etc). Nothing worked.

The only 'solution' MS offered was to send my machine in and pay $950 for a repair.

I would not recommend a surface of any kind to anyone.
