Surface Pro 4 Keyboard not working / type cover keyboard driver missing

Hi.

I have a surface Pro 4 and the type cover keyboard is not working.

The driver has gone missing (just shows HID keyboard device) so I can't do what the other forums have said an uninstall the driver.

I have installed the SP4 driver updates and still not working.

I also did the two-button restart and disabled/enabled the keyboard in UEFI. No joy.

This is really frustrating. Other people have this issue:

I'm on 10.0.18632 Build 18632 MS Windows 10 Pro

Can anyone help with this?

I have the same problem, have tried all the recommended answers.

I did put my OS build 19042-862 it comes up as out of band unavailable...this is a refurbished machine after my previous Surface Pro4was in warranty.

Are these situations, Microsoft's idea to keep their refurb platform in business.

Come on Microsoft, do something about this issue.

Oh god. Thank you, that's good to know.

I should consider more about which PC model (that is not m.soft) to buy in case I need a new one sooner than expected then. :(

I checked the update history and it might be either because of this update "Surface - Firmware - 9.102.140.0" or the latest security intelligence update, if it's them at all. I consider myself lucky really but my trust is now lost.

Honestly, this likely to be my last Surface Pro because I'm planning to switch to a Thinkpad after this. I travel a lot so I rather not risk having a detachable keyboard that is not working again. :(
