Surface Pro 4 Keyboard not working / type cover keyboard driver missing

Hi.

I have a surface Pro 4 and the type cover keyboard is not working.

The driver has gone missing (just shows HID keyboard device) so I can't do what the other forums have said an uninstall the driver.

I have installed the SP4 driver updates and still not working.

I also did the two-button restart and disabled/enabled the keyboard in UEFI. No joy.

This is really frustrating. Other people have this issue:

I'm on 10.0.18632 Build 18632 MS Windows 10 Pro

Can anyone help with this?

Have any of you guys tried Battery Drain Method? I have seen some people claiming that it did solve their problem. It involves draining the battery of your Surface Pro Machine completely, to the extent that the white battery low symbol should not show upon pressing the Power On Button. Then you have to connect the power, and turn on the Surface Pro. If the time that is shown is wrong, then the battery drain process is successful and the type cover should work normally. (You have turn off Connected Standby in the Registry Editor). The battery drain may take couple of days, I'm leaving my surface pro for about a Week. Just putting this here if anyone wants to try it out.

Waiting for Janette_Z/ microsoft sevice team.

    Don't let me down please.

Lil.L I wouldn’t go holding your breath waiting for Jannette to come back with a solution that works.  At this point I reckon we’ll be lucky if she even responds at all, period.  She has left us hanging for weeks, giving the stock-standard “troubleshooting 101” speil, despite it being clear to all and sundry who’d already proactively taken the steps she proposed several times over to no avail, that she was offering nothing new, nothing useful and nothing we hadnt already tried from our own attempts.   See we’ve ended up here as a FINAL STRAW. The last ditched attempt when ALL else has failed. What you need and expect Microsoft to do at this point is to acknowledge what is undoubtedly a known issue, and be frank about the remedy. Not to waste more of their customers time and add insult to injury by taking them through pointless repeated exercises whilst delivering only the corporate line aka lip service, which naturally serves only to further incite frustrations, disappointment and ultimately ensure that Microsoft’s fall from grace is about as spectacular and dramatic as it is profoundly well earned.

I just ran the Surface Diagnostic toolkit. At some point the screen showed 'cleanup components store; touch driver repair, restore system health, and repair system file corruption had been applied as fixes. Then it completed, said no problems.

And it is STILL not working!

Please don't abandon us for another several days. There is no driver for the type cover keyboard showing (as I've shown in pictures) so I don't see how it is a hardware issue.
