Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

    just a clarification

is this an issue of migration from Windoes 10 to Windows 11 or by

a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately

we understand that it is something the the OneDrive team is doing and is not related to the computers we are using ?

Not related. This migration is affecting OneDrive and 365 Apps. This would have been a licensing change as I assume they are using a business license and not family. This migration is not affecting OneDrive for Business.

This story has wings. My son works for a regional airlines as a data analyst. Suddenly, last year he was forced to use the web version of the Office Suite. He told the IT guy something was amiss but got no satisfaction.

He doesn't tolerate change well when productivity is lost. So he brought his laptop to work, tethered it to his phone and accessed his files in the Office apps just like he was doing at home. He told his boss something was screwy. What do you think the boss did? Yep, he brought in his laptop. I guess they don't like to confront the IT guy.

So months later. when it happened to me - the family tech guy - I was amazed to learn about this migration problem; affecting both commercial and family users of OneDrive.

If someone is writing a book about this, you have my permission to include this story.

I also have had this issue since June of last year. I had 1 user that could not access a folder that I was sharing with her. Last week I had a second user who's folder he was sharing with me the entire time stopped working. This was because last week he was converted to version 2. Today I was converted to version 2 today and now that we are all on version 2 our shares worked as intended. The shares were automatically converted from URL short cuts.

It was a shame that Microsoft handled this so poorly. There really is no excuse for them to not keep people informed as to the progress of the issue. I am sure that this problem was not an issue for 80% of the users of onedrive. Microsoft could have set something up to where users with the issue could have reported to Microsoft and been placed on a fast track for the version 2 rollout, prior to rolling out to those that were not impacted.

So know that as painful as it is the solution will eventually roll out. Good luck to all of you that are still waiting.
