Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

This issue is soooo disrupting! On existing installations my SHARED FOLDERS disappear by the day, account by account! With new installations it happens right away, only URL shortcuts available for all SHARED FOLDERS.

And I agree with someone here (F D A ) who mentions that moving files on server side doesn't work either. It is catastrophic -- the work around is not working for all my shares, don't know why that is, but it would be a remote file access anyway, and that is not feasible or ideal for large files.

What about an official statement by the OneDrive Team? Just saying 'we are working on it' is not good enough, I guess.

BTW, that issue occurred last year summer already with some installations.

It is hard to believe that this is a bug -- it should not be too difficult to test why the OneDrive code decides to convert existing shares into shortcuts, I mean the code does that for a reason, right?

Is it not a bug but a new feature? Taking away the shared folders with local copies to reduce syncing and bandwidth, or to introduce a premium (paid) version of OneDrive or Office365?

Those speculations would not be necessary if SOMEONE from the OneDrive Team would commit to a status report about the issue -- is that too much to ask for?

    Thanks!

thanks for the tipp with the app password. unfortunately i get this error message

    Image

I had a case here that presented this problem after restarting. It asked for authentication and gave this error!

I noticed that in front of the login address appeared "Microsoft Account" I removed this information and it passed. Sometimes it asks 2 or 3 times but until the problem is solved, it is working here.

I hope I can solve it for you.
