OneDrive Save button and Folders grayed out on iPhone but other clouds are not

Onedrive folders and Save button are grayed out on my iphone when I have tried to "Save to Files" through the Files App. The folders for some reason are showing as read only in the App as well which is quite weird.

However other cloud services such as google drive, dropbox save to iphone and the Save button are not grayed out and completely available to save too.

This was working previously but all of a sudden has stopped for no reason. I am site administrator on this account having full permissions from a microsoft end and have checked the settings in the iphone to allow access to all photos. I have not changed any settings either or read only.

I just received a very sinilarly worded reply. Just terrible! They take it offline with no notice and with no estimate of outage time, which has now been weeks. I’m speechless.

At the absolute very least they could have managed this with communication. This is a perfect example of how NOT to handle things like this, on the grandest scale, where it has effected millions of people worldwide. My article is even more relevant now because we are completely at their mercy. There is no law against what they’re doing and they obviously know that they can do it AND get away with it with no repercussions - what recourse do we have? Is there any hope of compensation? NO.

    FYI -

I received the following Reply from Microsoft OneDrive Team this AM in response to my recent "Report A Problem" via the OneDrive App [Case #:1020395358]. My reply back follows the Microsoft OneDrive Email below:

    Hello Marilyn,

Thanks for contacting OneDrive support and we apologies for delay in response. Hope you are staying safe and healthy.

I want to inform you that the OneDrive iOS team has been investigating feedback of lost writes made from the iOS Files App. I completely understand your concern that it is taking time to fix it however we’re actively working on improving our Files App experience and have temporarily set it in read only mode and this is the reason files are showing as read only.

I regret for the inconvenience caused. I am afraid currently there is no ETA however the issue is already raised on high priority and will be fixed soon. Once the fix has been released, rollout will start with a new version of OneDrive app. Please keep checking the OneDrive app updates.

Meanwhile you can use OneDrive website i.e. onedrive.live.com in InPrivate browser or on a desktop browser to edit/upload files.

Thanks for your understanding.

Thanks

Panam P.

OneDrive Team

My Reply Back:

Thank you for the follow-up. I am glad to hear that the issue has been given high-priority by Microsoft. However the work-around that you suggest of using the OneDrive website i.e.onedrive.live.comin InPrivate browser or on a desktop browser to edit/upload files is not a viable substitute when working “on the road” using an iPhone or iPad. Thus the main reason that I use OneDrive continues to leave me “non-functional”.

Agree with comments of CreaghW. It did not work for me either.

Thanks, MCheeseman. For clarity, did you mean toggle on? Then you need to restart the OneDrive app in order to get prompted to authenticate again. After which you’ll find that setting turned back off.

In any case,, I tried this and it doesn’t work. Given the explanations I’ve received that shouldn’t work and, oddly, I actually breathed a sigh of relief when it didn’t.

Are you actually using the share button (or similar) and selecting Save to Files in the menu or are you then selecting the OneDrive icon/app option to share/save to?

I / we all had the same issue. The solution provided by the help desk worked for me:

settings / one drive / toggle off the “Clear account settings”

Then, go try to save something from your phone to your one drive; it will prompt a re login. Yay it works.

Then return to settings and then toggle back on “clear account settings”. 💥 😁 now I can save to Onedrive from my mobile. Hallelujah
