Office Installation stuck at 2% (Office for Windows)

Is there any chance that Microsoft will be fixing this problem any time soon?  I have gone through all of the suggested fixes and none of them work.  This is irritating to say the least.

Already try your way. But when u try to install it back, it said the office is already being installed

I was trying to install Microsoft Office 365 & Home & Student on My Customer's Computer and Most of the times Installation will stuck on 2%. I did not find any Solution in this Forum nor anywhere else so i fixed this issue by following Method ?

Once the installation is stuck on 2%, I open Task manager and went to Details and End the office oneclick Processes. Once Processes ends i started the Installation and Walaaa it worked and office starting the Installation and did not stuck anymore. 

Note:If it did not help anyone, You may need to End Process the Service again and it will 100% work.

I am not a Microsoft Technician i am just a User.

I am having the same issue, but I am having a hard time understanding exactly what this user did. Did you end the SERVICE or the PROCESS? also, this install runs 2 click to run processes, I don't see any oneclick processes from this install.

Alternatively, does anyone know if there is a normal installer for office, instead of this custom **** that does not work?

(leave it to Microsoft to make an installer that does not work on THERE OWN OPERATING SYSTEM)

2 – Steps to remove Office 

In case if the error persists even after running Office repair tool, uninstall Office from your computer.

1. Open Control Panel using Start
2. Click on Programs and select Programs and Features.
3. Select Office Suite and click on Remove.

Note: If Office installation failed or it didn’t fix the error, manual installation is required to completely remove the Office Suite.

3 – Steps to remove Office manually to fix the Erroroffice is installing in the background stuck at 2%

If the error "We're getting things ready" is re-occurring, proceed with the following steps to manually remove Office program from your computer.

Step 1: Remove the Windows Installer packages

1. Find the Office 16 installation folder, typically located in **C:\Program Files**.
2. Right-click the Microsoft Office 16 folder and select Delete.

Step 2: Remove the Officescheduled tasks

1. Open a Command Prompt window as an administrator.
2. At the command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each one:

schtasks.exe /delete /tn “\Microsoft\Office\Office Automatic Updates”

schtasks.exe /delete /tn “\Microsoft\Office\Office Subscription Maintenance”

schtasks.exe /delete /tn “\Microsoft\Office\Office Click To Run Service Monitor”

Step 3: Use Task Manager to end the Click-to-Run tasks

1. Open Task Manager.
2. Click the Processtab
3. If the following processes are running, right-click each one, and then click End taskafter you select each process.

• .exe
• setup*.exe

Step 4: Delete the Office files

1. Press Windows logo key + R to open the Rundialog box.
2. In the Open box, type %ProgramFiles%, and then click OK.
3. Delete the “Microsoft Office 16” folder.
4. Delete the “Microsoft Office” folder.
5. Open the Run dialog box, type %ProgramFiles(x86)%, and then click OK.
6. Delete the “Microsoft Office” folder.

Step 5: Delete the Officeregistry sub keys

1. Open Registry Editor.
2. Delete the following registry sub keys:

• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppVISV
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office
• Then Delete the Office key.

Step 6: Delete the Start menu shortcuts

1. Open a Command Prompt window as an administrator.
2. Type %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs, and then press Enter.
3. Delete the “Microsoft Office 2016 Tools” folder.

4 – Download and install Office

what is solution for this error, we already purchased 6 user office but can't download this 

This solution does actually work, I figured out that in some cases you don't even have to end both process, just the one taking up more RAM. One you do there is a good chance that the status bar will drop form 2% to 0%. This is a graphical bug, just get up and get some lunch or something, and eventually you will get a message saying that office was installed correctly. Please note that once the bar drops to 0% it will stay there and you wont be able to track the actual progress of the install, but it is still installing in the background. It is also worth mentioning that this will take slightly longer to install, most likely because killing the click to run causes the install to hang in the background temporarily. It will recover though (assuming you don't click on it) and continue silently installing in the background.  

On a side note, I have not idea why everyone keeps calling the process "oneclick ", as this is not the actual name of the process. Look for a process called OfficeClick ToRun as shown below.  There will be 2 of them, plus the actual installer process (which you do not want to kill).
