Hi Caine0001
Can't get it to work :(. Have un-installed using your link and re-installed from my account. However, at about 91% it comes up with a box saying "background installation ran into a problem". It then just hangs and hangs (left it for hours) and when I
cancel it it just says no changes will be saved. I tried using your second link - the office fix - but it won't let me use it. Says I don't have the right permissions etc. I am logged on as administator though. Probably being a bit thick but, as I'm getting
no joy whatsoever from MS, just don't know what to do next.
Yours is a weird problem. You can't right-click and Run as Administrator? I haven't seen this come up with this file before. If you are an admin, can you go into User Account Control Settings and move the bar all the way to the bottom just long enough to
run the fix. That second button has not failed me yet when it comes to an install that is stuck at a certain percentage. But if you can't get it to work and you keep having problems, I can only tell you what I said in the message above to Julie. I wish I could
be on site for everyone to try to help. I might not be able to fix it, but maybe we could together. I have not had even one that I haven't been able to get back to a working condition yet. And I have not had to use a System Restore or a Backup yet. The biggest
thing if you can get Office going again, is to make sure you turn off the Office updates. Leave Windows updates on, but turn off the Office only updates until they get this fixed.
They have to get this fixed soon or it could turn into a big financial hit for them. With over a billion Office installs you have to think like I said in an earlier post that at least 20% have upgraded to 2013. But even if only 10% have and they are saying
that 1% of those are affected, that is still a million customers. At the price of Office, if they were to lose that many customers.... well you can do the math. So they have to get this fixed and I think it is a much bigger deal than they want to let us know.
Just one man's opinion....
