Office Home and Business 2013 is now blank under "file size" in Programs and Features following the June 11 Microsoft update.  How do I recover it?

Being a person that is NOT tech savvy I appreciate this comment and I also appreciate the help others offer.  When a tech savvy person talks about taking the system back to before June 11th that would only apply to someone who had backed up their computer to an external hard drive or some other memory holder correct? If we "recover" can we just recover Word programs? Will we lose all of our documents? Is there no way to access our documents? Thank you to everyone who offers help,  I just wish Microsoft would "update" a fix to the problem.

Thanks for that update.  I did receive a request from them to send them information my my registry which I will do.  I am glad to hear they have acknowledged the problem.  My several calls to tech support did not indicate that.

I understand and you are welcome. I only found it out because my Tech Rep went to talk to members higher up the food chain in order to answer something I asked about that he could not answer. When the superior he asked heard the question he knew the problem I was having and so he not only gave my rep the answer to my question but he told him to re-assure me that they were now aware and were closing in on a hard fix to be released within a week hopefully. My rep was instructed to keep my ticket open until the hard fix was released. So if your Tech Support agent had no reason to run to a higher-up in order to ask something he/she probably never found out about this awareness since at the time of that phone call of mine it was not known to the first level of agents.

We should be thankful to Susan because she is an employee there and got my personal information from me and created an open ticket so they would call me back. So without her help, I doubt that I would ever have gotten through, much less get that updated information.

    See if this helps:

How to revert to an earlier version of Click-To-Run Office

            2013:

            1. Disable Office 2013 updates. In Outlook Click File, Office

Account, Office Updates and click Disable Updates.

            2. In your Outlook calendar add an appointment reminder for

December 11th or later to re-enable updates. The crash bug is

expected to be fixed in December updates ~12/10. This is really

important to stay current and ensure security updates are

Note: Available versions are listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/office-2013-click-to-run

    1. This brings up the Online Repair dialog (above). Choose Online        Repair Once complete you can check your version to verify it updated

          properly.

Hey there Susan, I noticed this post of yours after I got that info that they were now aware and working to find the solution. I was wondering if the advice you are giving here is something that you have been told now to suggest to people until they get it fixed or if it is just something you found on your own. I was thinking it was the former or you would have posted it much earlier, so I was thinking that maybe they have now came clean about this problem existing and are letting employees know of things that can be tried in order to stay up and running until the fix. Is that true? Or is the former idea about you just finding this on your own? Either way, thank you for posting this. I am just wondering because if they have given out this band-aid to employees it means the research into this problem is moving ahead pretty good.

Also, you say to schedule turning updates back on in December since that is when this crash bug fix is scheduled to be released. Is that for real now? I was told yesterday that they expect to have a hard fix for our problem within a week, especially since they have an idea where to focus now. But according to what you are saying, we can't update our Office again until December. I know these updates are a once a month thing normally, but are they really saying now that they need 6 months to get it fixed? That is discouraging in comparison with what I was told yesterday and the time frame being more like a week. So is that December thing something that is real as far as the date? Or does the week time frame still apply.

See the Article “Why can’t I start my Office 2013 application at:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/why-cant-i-start-my-office-2013-application-HA104011864.aspx

If that does not help, then you might remove all traces of the Office installation by downloading the fixit from the following article:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501

saving it to your computer and then running it.

Then reinstall Office by logging into www.office.com/myaccountwith your registered email address and cick Install Office.
