Error 1920. Service osppsvc failed to start

I obtained Microsoft Officew Professional Plus 2010 for home use via the Home Use Program. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. When I try loading Office I get the following error message:

Error 1920. Service 'Office Software Protection Platform' (osppsvc) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

I have administrator privileges on my computer. So I need help resolving this issue.

Open Run (Press Windows key + R) > type services.msc and click on OK

On the services MMC window right-click on Office Software Protection Platform and select Properties

Select the LOG ON tab > change the ‘Log on as’ information from ‘This Account’ (Network Service) to ‘Local System Account’

Click on Apply and OK

    Hey Man, thanks for the tip. It worked for me. Actually, it didn't work with Local System Account (it was already on it), but then I selected it to Log on as: and changed the account to my Windows Admin user and the password for the same. As soon as I applied it, got a message "The account .\xxxxx has been granted the Log On As A Service right" As soon as I did this, I could start the service successfully.

    The Office is still not getting installed though :-/

    Goes through the whole motion and at the very end, it just says that it could not be installed. No error code, nothing... Still struggling... Will post if stumble upon a fix.

    I did just that and it didn't really help.

    Well it helped to get over this problem but after about 10 minutes I got the repeated error msg Error 1712. At lest one file for the restore is missing. Restoring is not possible.

    So looks like it gave the install up, tried to repair Office 2007 and failed with that too,n well that is at least my guess.

    BTW I have XP 32 bit and tried to install with the X16-32254.exe file I downloaded, oh and I'm a HUP customer too. Luckily I also ordered the DVD so I hope when that arrives and I try to install it again that will work. Oh and Office 2007 seams to still work.

    I know you don't want to deploy, but there might be someone there that

    might know what's going on with that 'osppsvc'. So I guess you could

    try to ask your question over there.

    But you didn't reply to what files were missing?

    I am not trying to deploy Office 2010 on a corporate network. Just trying to install it on my home PC. Trough our corporate license with Microsoft I obtained Office 2010, and tried to install it on my PC. Perhaps I downloaded an earlier version? Or not one for my 64 bit system?
