Why is Hotmail Spam Filtering So Bad???

This is the WORST spam filtering of any of my email programs.

I am constantly getting junk in my inbox and important emails are sent to spam.

Even my upcoming vacation flight emails from delta airlines and other businesses. This is causing havoc and stress I don't need!

What are my options? Increase spam filtering and send more important emails to junk?

Lessen spam filtering and get more junk in my inbox????

Don: To say, 'flagging emails improves Hotmail's filtering ability,' simply isn't accurate. I mark every single spam email as spam and every phishing email as phishing, yet I have literally HUNDREDS of spam and phishing emails show up in my INBOX every week. It's ridiculous, and it seems like it's getting worse, not better. I've been a Hotmail user since the 90s and always preferred it over the alternatives; but it's getting to the point where it's not worth it.

I agree the past 2 or 3 weeks I have been getting spam bombed. It's a pain when your trying to find the legit email that's buried with a bunch of scam spam

Ok I am getting more and more spam after I posted this question so I am going scorched earth on my filtering now.

Something i am noticing in the mail headers of most of these is this:

To view header of junk mail: Right click on junk mail item and select "View"- "View Message Headers".

    Image

Which appears to be coming from google.com servers.

    I could forward these to a b u s e @ g m a i l . c o m but how effective do you think that would be? Right.

So I am now creating rules for junk mail headers with "gmail" in them to be marked as junk.

Yes I could spam folder some people with gmails but I don't get private people I know sending to this hotmail account. If i did I could white list the few I would have. I have mostly used this account for business dealings and customer service. And evidently businesses are selling their customers' email data to third parties.

So I will eliminate most of the spam with this.

There are other domains but I will add those to the rule as I see them.

Right click on junk item and select "Advanced Action " - "Create Rule" - "More Options" - "Mail" - "Rules" (don't you like how MS makes it so easy?

After creating this post and doing this, it's been working really well!

wrong i have reported them for years and still get hourly Anderson Windows spam.. outlook is ****

There is no reason to be swearing at us here. We aren't the outlook.com team and we all receive Spam.

Spam is a fact of life. I receive more spam in my Gmail and Yahoo mail accounts.

    As I posted earlier...

If spam lands in the Inbox, mark it as spam/junk. That will tell outlook that it's spam and will help the spam filters improve.

If outlook is sending these to Junk, there is nothing you can do except delete them.

    Don

I just saw a similar post about an increase in spam. It sounds like spammers have found a way to beat hotmail/outlook spam filter. Hope the filter gets resolved/updated soon.
