Hi,
I have a free hotmail account (15 GB storage limit) and am within this storage limit. I also have a Ondrive account (comes automatically with your hotmail account). The storage capacity is 5GB and is unused.
A few weeks ago this empty Onedrive account became full, because my Outlook attachments popped up there and instantly took my storage capacity to over the 5GB limit (twice as much).
Since then I haven't been able to receive or send emails at all, even though my hotmail storage is well within the storage limit.
Technical support at Microsoft claim that there is a bug that their engineers have been trying to fix. Not sure though this is accurate, as I've read nothing about it in the news. On Microsoft's website they say they changed storage rules in Feb 2023, so that Onedrive automatically captures your hotmail storage capacity as well. Effectively, this is a reduction of your hotmail storage capacity from 15GB to 5GB. Pay up or delete your emails is what this is about.
Anyone else facing this problem? Any ideas what is really causing this? A technical bug or an attempt by Microsoft to force hotmail account holders to pay a monthly subscription?
Any help or feedback much appreciated.

I have had EXACTLY same experience. Paid up, and now Google are asking g payments for One Drive. I thought paying Hotmail and outloom would cover phone Nightmare
I literally spent 2hrs in the middle of the night, deleting every email >2MB. Painstaking but I think it actually gave me functionality back when I got down to around 7-8GB. Even though my OneDrive is only 5GB… 🤔
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?????
I have tried MANY things and nothing is working. Even my "chat" with Microsoft could not figure out a solution.
I have the same problem ... ... and, on April 21, was told by Microsoft this was a "bug" they were trying to fix. I do not believe that!!!!
My husband and I are both having this issue. I've always had this email and I'm pissed all of a sudden they want money to upgrade storage. They saved everything automatically to onedrive now even if I delete a bunch of stuff it's not changing my percentage. Honestly screw you guys I'm out. I got a Gmail account and just changed my email on every site/app I use. That's still less of a hassle then trying to figure this **** out.
