Not receiving desktop notifications in 'New Outlook'

I have enabled desktop notifications in the New Outlook app. But once I close the app, I don't receive notifications from the app. I have also enabled desktop notifications in the windows settings too. When I open the app, I get notifications of new emails being sent but once I close the app, I don't receive notifications anymore. It is extremely annoying and I have faced this same issue on another device with the same 'New Outlook'. I have faced this for a long time.

I use a Surface Laptop Go with 8GB RAM and
a 10th gen Intel Core i5 with 256 GB storage.
This laptop runs Windows 11 Pro.It was upgarded for Windows 10 Pro recently.

Ah, the New Outlook is a major downgrade and a pain, isn't it.

I had the same thing. My Calendar reminders were already turned on as well. However, if you expand it, I found that mine was set to "None". So I selected Reminder, circled in red on the attached picture and now they are popping up on my Desktop.

I know this is an old thread, but may help others looking. Also, this is in regard to Calendar notifications

    Hello

    How are you.

How can I see when I have a new email that comes in and needs to be posted, in outlook mail. It stays silent. It doesn't remember when new email messages come in. I've activated everything, it's not working properly. How can you help me please ?

Hi Jude. Outlook.com does not notify you of getting new mail. You must check on your own. Same applies to (New Desktop Outlook) as they are tied together.

I experienced something weird today. While tinkering with the alert options trying to make it work, I selected "Top" for New Outlook app alerts in Windows' general alert settings. After that the New Outlook app opened by itself when I received an email, instead of showing a toast notification in the right lower corner.

This only happened once and never again.

It's baffling how broken and inconsistent this app is...

Hi Raham. Thanks for your thought about running as administrator. Thing is, there are no event desktop notifications when the program is closed. If the program is open the desktop notifications will work, whether the program is opened in admin mode or not.
Like most people, I don't wish to have the program open and minimized whenever my computer is running.
A year ago or so I WAS getting the notifications when the program was closed. Cheers!
