Configuring preferences and options in Outlook.com
You are right, the number of junk emails on an hourly basis is staggering and annoying.

Hello
It seems that from the early hours of this morning 20/02/2023 the junk mail filter on hotmail.com email addresses has stopped working. This has happened to both my partner and myself and we have tried to find the Settings menu item to ensure this is set to High and it does not seem to exist anymore!
Please can someone please let us know how to re-instate the High junk mail filter so that only known senders emails appear in Inbox and all other senders go to the Junk folder. I have used this setting for YEARS but overnight something seems to have updated and my Inbox is now full of my junk email.
It's as though something has been updated/removed overnight that should not have.
Best,
Chantal

Same thing here. I wonder if Microsoft is aware how much spam gets pointed hotmail accounts. The system is totally unusable at this point.
The biggest issue is that theu count any SPAM email that goes into Junk Folder as successfully "blocked".
Of course, we still have to go through the Junk Folder email-by-email to find real emails that ended up there too.
Today, its even worse, as the Inboxes are being flooded instead.
I want to quit Hotmail, but have had this account since the 90's and have perhaps 500 online account logins associated with it :(
I seem to be having a similar problem.
Phishing emails are now docking in my Inbox, rather than my Junk Email. Meanwhile, nothing is landing in my Junk Email folder, which is a little wondering, as previously even some of my designated safe senders would end up filtered through to Junk, for some reason.
Hope this is fixed soon, bit of a worry if it isn't.
SAME HERE!!! I've had the strictest filter set up forever and it just stopped overnight so now my inbox is FULL of spam.
