Hotmail/Outlook.com junk mail filter not working

Hello

It seems that from the early hours of this morning 20/02/2023 the junk mail filter on hotmail.com email addresses has stopped working. This has happened to both my partner and myself and we have tried to find the Settings menu item to ensure this is set to High and it does not seem to exist anymore!

Please can someone please let us know how to re-instate the High junk mail filter so that only known senders emails appear in Inbox and all other senders go to the Junk folder. I have used this setting for YEARS but overnight something seems to have updated and my Inbox is now full of my junk email.

It's as though something has been updated/removed overnight that should not have.

Best,

Chantal

My problem was resolved the same day as it began. Apparently, it had to do with the update from earlier that day. Good luck. I have set rules for what is allowed in my inbox, all else goes to junk box.

Has this issue been resolved yet I am still experiencing significant numbers of junk in focused inbox, and 50+ in junk folder mixed with legitimate personal emails.

Thank you for this, Carl. I'm speechless! When I went to the Subscriptions setting in Outlook, I learned that I was "subscribed" to 668 addresses. A hefty number of those were addresses of spammers and phishers whom I have reported time and time again. Why would Outlook have them listed as people/places to which I subscribed? I assume, then, that is why I continually received junk mail from them, despite continually reporting them. Something is totally messed up here! We'll see what effect "unsubscribing" to them has on the quantity of junk mail I receive -- currently over 100/day. Again, many thanks to you for this bit of information!

On a web browser, go to Settings, then at the bottom of that side pane, select Show all Settings. Then, select subscriptions, and unsubscribe to all that you don’t recognize or want. I DO NOT RECOMMEND INPUTTING YOUR PASSWORD IF PROMPTED by one of the junk sites. If prompted for it, hit Cancel and move to to next fake subscription.

It cleaned out my inbox and fixed my junk mail problem instantly.

    I can’t explain why Microsoft hasn’t revealed this…
