I am using the free version of Outlook.com and followed the forums and help how to set up a GMail sync to Outlook.com.

However since two days I got this clicking on the "Sync Email" menu.

Even the X button on the upper right corner does not operates when being in this menu.

I tried this menu in browsers like Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera.

All the same results.

Questions:

  1. can I use Gmail sync using free version of Outlook.com?
  2. do you know this

ReynaldoB, this setting page is not just for setting external email sync.

There is also setting to change default "From" address (MS 365 Family - custom domain) but it is not accessible because of the "Unable to load..." error.

You can check answer on FAQ page:

Get a personalized email address in Microsoft 365
"How do I change the default "From" address used to send email with a personalized email address?"

    1. Go to your Outlook.com Email alias settings. <-- Link to Sync Email setting
    2. Set the default Fromaddressfrom the drop down of address available. <-- not possible, because of bug/error: "Unable to load these settings. Please try again later."

    Ron,

So we now know that the sync email facility is gone

    see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot-connected-accounts-in-outlook-com-a99a1f0b-700d-4b3b-8f9a-28d463ff07f2

However, how do users REMOVE this facility since the sync page no longer works at all?

If the sync starts to fail, accounts may be locked out by Outlook.com constantly unsuccessfully trying to access the account, but users seem to have no way of removing the sync.

Has Microsoft supplied an answer here?

It would have been better for Microsoft to remove and stop the facility altogether.

    Hi All

Even if the 'Connected Accounts' have been depricated, we still need the page Syn Email for

    1. To select the default Outlook.com account we want to send from. Bear in mind a lot of us have multiple aliases.
    2. Default ROM account
    3. Also to allow us set the default email address we want our emails to show.

So irrespective of anything else, we still need to access theses settings for Outlook's sake!

To compound the problem, now emails received are duplicated.

The same email is received by the Primary email address and the same email is also received by the alias!

This obviously affects Outlook on Android, where duplicated emails are also received.

I wonder how long it will take for Microsoft and Outlook.com to respond, acknowledge the error and rectify it?

Same issue for a few weeks now. Trying to add a new email address. Can't. And unable to see/edit email addresses already added.

Been on to Support today. Total waste of time. They didn't seem to know what I was talking about when I shared the error message or recognise that there were others with the same issue.

I referred them to posts in this forum.

After 45 minutes chatting with Support, no progress and none the wiser!
