Whilst using Windows 10 Pro, I am receiving notifications in the notification centre when I have received a new email in Outlook. However, when I click the email in the notification centre it does not open the email.

Please can you help sort this issue. Followed all other forums etc. and these have not helped solve my issue.

Not sure why Microsoft have not supplied answer in this thread, but copied from another is answer. It works.

I used zx3junglist answer in a different way.  I found a regedit entry for:

    Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppUserModelId\Microsoft.Office.OUTLOOK.EXE.15

But I am using Outlook 2016 (should be OUTLOOK.EXE.16, not 15)

    I renamed Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppUserModelId\Microsoft.Office.OUTLOOK.EXE.15

    to

    Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppUserModelId\Microsoft.Office.OUTLOOK.EXE.16

and popups work.  When I click the popup, I get the email!

    I hope this helps some!

Thanks, it works as well for my Outlook 2019.

It seems both Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019 use the same version number "OUTLOOK.EXE.16".

Well what a surprise - an update breaks a feature that used to work. Despite over a year of complaints it does not seem to be fixed!!

I just had my update and have EXACTLY the same issue. I get a popup which I used to be able to click to open the email if I wanted to, but now I click and it just goes away. Outlook 365 and Win 10. Farcical.

No point in having a notification if you cannot do anything with it!

Along with the changed search function that takes an extra click to do what I used to do with 1 click, this is typical of changes just because some techy thinks it is a good idea.

Very frustrating when working to have to change process.

    Hello Lewis MacLennan,

Microsoft nowadays just merely like a piece of rubbish. All the updates will mess up almost everything.

The Windows 10 update turns out to be BSOD. Office update turns out the notification unable to use anymore.

Poor lousy Micorosft, if your engineers are sleeping? Such an unethical and irresponsible attitude putting your users just wait for nothing!

The funny thing about the email notifications is that it used to work fine.  If you saw the notice and clicked it - it would bring up the email it notified you about.  Now you click it and nothing happens.

Also, this happened since some Windows 10 updates.

And another thing, the emails you view still show as unopened.

Very bizarre.  This is not a setting. This is a software glitch.
