New Outlook.com (Hotmail) sign-in page : Autofill/Autocomplete not working?

Today a new style of sign-in page appeared for Outlook.com (Hotmail) — and autofill/autocomplete doesn't work for the e-mail address field!

I have several e-mail addresses, and until now I've only needed to enter the first letter to get the dropdown list. Now there's no dropdown list. I have to type the full e-mail address each time I sign in. As I often switch between accounts, and you have to sign out of one to be able to sign in to another, this loss of autofill is very frustrating and time-wasting.

It's not a browser-related problem: it happens in 3 different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE).

It's not computer-related: it happens on 3 different computers.

It happens only with the Outlook.com (Hotmail) sign-in. On other websites, autofill still works for e-mail address fields.

I can only assume that Microsoft's developers have blocked autofill/autocomplete on this new sign-in page. If this is a deliberate choice, then why? It's extremely annoying and time-wasting. If it's just a mistake, I hope that MS will correct it very quickly.

Has anyone else discovered the problem?  Does anyone have a solution or a workaround?

I too tried posting about this problem in UserVoice. I received a similar reply (in an email) as Cherche did ... Here is what I received ...

Thank you for providing feedback on the new Outlook on the web experience.  This is our new Outlook and the ability to go back to the previous format is not available.

Again, let me state that this auto-complete problem has nothing to do with the new Outlook Mail system ... this problem has nothing to do with browser settings ... this problem is being caused by a bug in the new Microsoft Account sign on page.

Forum Moderators:  if you really want to help ... then reproduce this problem on your own:  in your browser, search for "outlook.com". When the sign on page opens, try entering the first few characters of your ID into the input box. You will see that auto-complete is not working. Then escalate this problem to Microsoft.

As you are facing this issue with the new login page and the above suggestions doesn’t worked out, I suggest you to provide feedback about your concern to Outlook.com developer team and check. Refer the following link to provide feedback.

Well, I tried the User Voice link. After 3 days of "Awaiting moderator approval", my submitted post has completely disappeared from my User Voice account, and has not appeared in the listed topics.

I did receive an e-mail from an anonymous Microsoft Support Engineer, who had completely misunderstood my post. It read: "This is our new Outlook and the ability to go back to the previous format is not available."

This is the same wrong assumption as made by ZigZag3143 in an earlier post in the present thread.

As langware replied, "This bug has NOTHING to do with the new outlook.com email system." I have NOT been migrated to the new (Office 365 style) Outlook.com format. The problem lies in the sign-in page, regardless of whether an account is on the old or the new Outlook.com format.

Unfortunately, as my post in User Voice has not been published, I can't post back there to explain their erroneous assumption. It seems the time I spent posting there was completely wasted.

At least in this forum we have the chance to clear up such misunderstandings. So our various requests to Moderators here to escalate this problem become even more important. Feedback to the User Voice site just doesn't work (or at least it hasn't for this problem).

Moderators, please help by escalating this issuecorrectly.

    sss

I am having the same problem,

yes i have tried putting my email address in the box several times

    (maybe about 20)

always ticking the box to save my address,

it still hasn't saved it, I am having to type in my address every time i want to use my email account,

I do have more than one address one is for buying items online,

so I do not clutter my main address,

and either save, it is most certainly not my PC at fault,

I have the exact same problem as langware.

You also cannot cut or paste in both the email address and password fields.

The failure to autofill/autocomplete happens on Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome browsers.

All three browsers are set to autofill/autocomplete and set to NOT clear entries when browsers are closed.
