Cannot login to Outlook due to error "Something went wrong.."

Original title: Outlook LIVE (outlook.com) "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later".

I have a custom domain running Outlook LIVE through outlook.com.  I've had an old passport account which has been with me for a long time but didn't used to have email associated with it.  I recently updated it to have email enabled, but I'm not able to login to outlook live with that account.

How can I get around the "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later" error, or determine what the problem is?  I waited about a month but I'm still having the same problem.  I would really like to get email onto this account since it's the account I have all of my other things (xbox, phone, win8) pointed to.

Thanks

    Hi Amrita,

Thank you for following this up.

I don't get as far as the login page. When I try to link to Outlook.com from a browser, it takes me to :

    https://outlook.live.com/owa/auth/errorfe.aspx?httpCode=500&ts=131112035929459298&be=SN1PR14MB0671&authError=ADDriverStoreAccessNonLocalException#wa=wsignin1.0

And this displays on the web page:

    :-(

    Something went wrong

We can't get that information right now. Please try again later.

    X-ClientId: EF7B09B4EAC043158732F171231E6700
    X-Auth-Error: ADDriverStoreAccessNonLocalException

It has been doing this for the past three weeks, from all three different browsers on my PC, and from my Android devices as well. I have tried clearing histories, clearing cache, etc, to no avail!

I am, however, able to access my Outlook mail account from my email app on my phone, so it doesn't appear to be at all related to passwords or account verification. I'm just completely unable to access the Outlook web mail.

    Hi,

Thank you for keeping us posted.

To get a better clarity about the issue, could you please tell me when you log into your account does it say Outlook.com or Outlook Email/Mail at the top left corner?

    Thank you.

This would suggest that the server has been down for the last three weeks, but of course it has not. As I explained, I have attempted to access Outlook many times over the last three weeks, getting the same error.

I also checked the servers several times over the last few weeks, as you suggest, and each time they have shown as being available. Today:

    We're all good!

    Everything is up and running

Here's the full text of the problem:

Something went wrong and we couldn't complete your request.

    Fewer details...

INCIDENTALLY, it has the same result attempting to access Outlook from a browser on an Android device as well as on Windows 10 - so it looks as if W10 update is not the problem - it's Outlook.
