Is there any way to disable junk-mail/spam filtering completely in Outlook.com? I'd prefer my Windows client to handle this locally, thus everything I receive to my @outlook.com address should be going into Inbox.

Even taking the time to add all email senders as contacts still has no effect - their emails STILL go into Junk mail.  I've now taken the only logical action and have started moving all my emails to another provider.  Goodbye Hotmail.

Still there is no information from Microsoft about the Spam Filter, specifically on the option to disable the filter.

Well, it has only been 4+ years since this thread was started, perhaps they need a little more time?

In relation to my last post I would like to add the following. Maybe there is a good reason for MS not to allow us to disable the filter. If too many users do not delete their emails on MS servers (e.g. setting the email client to delete received messages after a certain amount of days), then a large number of spam emails would stay indefinitely on the servers. This could pose a problem of storage capacity: a problem that increases (a) as spam increases, and (b) as email users are less careful in cleaning their inboxes.

I feel a little foolish offering an explication that MS could (should?) present themselves. But, well, that is a possible logical explanation, and only MS knows if the numbers are such as to make it true.

I think you are being excessively generous to MS here.  The above is nothing they can't mitigate with a simple quota facility.  There really is no logical reason why they shouldn't allow users more control over this behaviour.

Microsoft has made a strategic decision to force people to accept Junk Mail filtering. I don't know what purpose is served by this, but they can't possibly have innocently failed to understand that this is a problem for five years running. It would be a no-brainer to allow people to disable it. Microsoft just doesn't want you to be able to do so. I don't know why. It would be nice if someone from Microsoft could provide a clear explanation of why they have forbidden their users from disabling their junk mail filtering, but they never answer the question.

Every time this comes up, they "answer" (not answer) the question by telling people to whitelist senders, as if people didn't already know about that. Obviously, you can't whitelist senders that you don't know will be emailing in the future. Of course, Microsoft knows this. They just don't want to directly state that they want people to be forced to use their junk mail filtering.

It's a shame. Outlook.com is generally a nice product, but I just can't use a product that fails on the most basic need -- to reliably deliver my email.

The filter doesn't work (often important emails go straight to "junk") and we can't turn it off... Ridiculous.
