Loud Beeping when Muted in a MS Teams Call

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.

I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.

Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?

It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

    Found a solution that works, below is a quote from some one on this link

    "If I put Teams on mute it starts beeping, so I unmute the headphones by holding the + and - buttons for 2 seconds. I get the "mute off" but Teams stayed muted and there was no beeping."

    However you have to do this every time you put your self on mute

    I had the same double beep issue on TEAMS with my SHOKZ OPEN RUN Headset and it just started a couple weeks ago. I tried everything and the issue persisted. I just got on another TEAMS meeting today and had to MUTE, which I did from the TEAMS app. I then tried clicking the +- volume buttons simultaneously on my headset, the MUTE OFF voice came over my headset and the beep went away yet I still remained muted on teams. Just for grins I unmuted and muted again on the Teams app and the issue came back until I pressed the +- volume buttons on my headset and heard MUTE OFF. I thought this issue was going to push me over the edge!!!

    This sound has been driving me absolutely nuts for weeks but think I have finally sorted it (for me anyway) and maybe you could try this also.......

    1. Right click the volume button in the start menu or far right on taskbar and select "Sounds"
    2. Click on the Recording tab, and select your Shokz/Aftershokz Headset. Click "Properties"
    3. Go to the "Levels" tab and you might see that your headset is muted by default for some reason. Unclick it and you should get a verbal notification that the mute is now off and the beep has gone!

    Same issue. It's really annoying as I now have to use a non bluetooth headset.

    Is Microsoft incapable of solving such an issue in almost 3 months (just counting this thread but there are older ones)?

    Or is it in Microsoft interest to keep it this way?

    Honestly very disappointing and this is coming from Teams as other web conference tools work perfectly
