When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.
I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.
Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?
It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

As of a Windows update applied by my company on Dec 9 2022, this method no longer works because the volume +/- buttons no longer work to mute/unmute the microphone when connected to an MS Teams meeting. (I have not experimented with these controls in any other MS applications yet)
This issue with the Aftershokz Open Comm just started for me in April. 2022 it’s not the headset clearly it’s a Microsoft Teams issue and it’s unbearable trying to listen to training or business calls. There is no mute button for the mic on the headset that I am aware of. Please direct me to the solution if there is one.

I've update my Teams just now (11/06/2022) to version 1.5.00.14473 (64-bit). Tested a meeting but the beep still there. I guess my version is newer than yours and should include the patch as well but it didn't.

I too am having the same problem since just a few days ago. I am also using the Aftershokz OpenComm. This is very very annoying!
I have MultiPoint Paring on as well but it is still giving me a beep.
I did reset it several times.
Another workaround I saw on this recently using the Windows' Sound properties to switch mute on/off does work but you have to keep the Sound properties window ready to access it.
