Hello,

The 2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441) will not install on my Windows 10 laptop computer.

I get the following message There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070643) Retry

When I click on Retry it says its Installing-0% for a few minutes then Installed-100% and then I get Download Error (0x80070643) There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. Windows Update Troubleshooter could not fix this problem.

I'm not sure what to do, please help.

    This is step one in forcing everyone over to Windows 11 😅 "Windows 10 updates are becoming less feasible" due to some BS issue they come up with that isn't present in W11 🙄

    You say pause updates for 7 days, this MS built problem has been around for weeks & it appears that no one is doing anything about it... I'm 81+ years old & it is NOT my job to fix MS stuff ups...

    I was under the impression that the community website was meant to help us lesser mortals who have little extensive knowledge on how to fix something that appears unfixable, not so it appears???

    Today MS is bragging about its new chat website & its share portfolio, but still KB5034441 remains a serious fault with the update system...

    Seems nobody cares as long as the shareholders are happy!!!

    I suggest temporarily pausing the update for 7 days until Microsoft releases an automatic fix.

    I would not hold my breath that it (this 2024-01 update) will be fixed in the next 7 days - this exact problem has already been reported as early as Jan 9, 2024, a month and a half ago:

    The problem has persisted since then and is still present even after installing the 2024-02 update. This should surely give you lots of confidence in the security in your OS and in how much Microsoft cares about it.

    Can't force me to W11, my 'puter is below W11 standard but good enough for W10... My 'puter tech advised me not to bother with W11 as its not really any improvement, just a few more bells & whistles to go wrong that you won't ever use anyway...

    Meanwhile KB5034441 remains unfixed by MS!!! Makes me wonder whether I should be looking for something more reliable than MS...

    Many users have reported experiencing the same issue with KB5034441 security update. Microsoft is aware of the problem and is actively working on fixing it. Devices attempting to install the January 2024 Windows Recovery Environment update ( KB5034441) might display an error related to the size of the Recovery Environment's partition.

    Next steps: They are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
