I think there might be one more snag. Microsoft seemed to fix the problem partially with an update in July. It was great for about 2 weeks and then the next update "broke" the fix. At this point, I have to turn off my printer after I finish printing and there will be a time lapse before I print again.
From my experience, it has two remaining problems:
- VPN connection might be a fundamental issue. I had a ransomware attack a few months ago. I fixed everything, including reformatting my hard drive and replacing my modem with a 39 character password! On top of that, I use Bitdefender (terrific software, btw) and their VPN that places me in the US so that anytime I'm on the web, I can't be hacked.
- When my pc goes to "sleep", i.e., when the screen saver turns on and then the pc display goes black, the error message is generated.
I am going to test not activating the VPN and see if that clears the error message. Not my cup of tea because throughout the day I bounce back between the web and local work. Bitdefender seems to be catching suspicious links - msedge is one of the biggest! - but I am not particularly comfortable with that. If it means activating and de-activating the VPN, then it's a pain but I won't be wasting all that paper and ink.
BTW, the July update (I think it was two updates ago) worked beautifully with the VPN active.
