Microsoft Refund Dept.

I also received a call from "Microsoft Refund Dept.". Since I didn't pick up they left a computer generated message stating her name as Kathy Jackson from tech support and to call 877 721  7434. for my refund. The reason I am posting this is I wanted to see if anyone else received such messages. Imagine my surprise when I realized the first comment about this subject was posted 2013!!! That was five years ago. Five years of people being scammed, losing money and whatever else. How could this still be happening without them being stopped? And the first one I saw was from the Netherlands, meaning this is an international scam.  AND it was on this site. Doesn't anyone at Microsoft oversee their own site?

I got the call to today. Is this really happening or is it a scam?

This call is a scam.  Microsoft will not cold call you and ask for personal identifying information.  Microsoft refunded me back to my issuing card and then sent me snail mail to explain their reason.  If you have purchased from Microsoft they already have your details to give you a refund.

Once you answer the phone, then they call you every hour.  There is an app you can get that takes the conversation off your phone and ties the people up with useless conversation.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I received a call on my cell, saying that Microsoft is closing and that I have a refund due me.  The person said that he was from the refund dept.  He wanted to give me a website to go too, so that I can get a refund.  They have also called my home twice and left a number that I can call to get the refund.  The person was very forceful and adamant about giving that website (which I could not understand, because of his English).  Thanks goodness I couldn't, so after a few minutes of not understanding him.  I told the person to keep the refund and hung up the phone.  So, people do not fall for this scam, it sounds inviting, but just another trick to get into your finance.
