OK. Glad you are rid of really horrid stuff! I doubt there was another way to do it. You should learn to love Win 10, but it will be an eternal study.

I am the manufacture, as I'm the one who built this unit.

On a side note, while trying to get the tiles to work I blew the OS up.

Tried to reimage, and things just got worse.

I ended up blowing everything away, and putting on a clean Win10 Pro image.

I no longer have Win Media Player, but I at least got an OS working again.

There was multiple things wrong with my system. Had a 3.0 PCI adapter that was bad, then found a virus in my backup images for Win7, which in turn caused both the hard disks to think they were Disk 0.

It has taken me over a week to get this thing back up.

So, now I will just have to learn Win10 and all it's tricks.

Windows Media Player survived my upgrade too. But I can't seem to find radio stations in it as I think I did back in my Win 98 days. It played a CD I popped in nicely, though, & could copy it to a folder. I see where one might have to start paying. I don't use it often enough to want to. We've also got Groove Music in here, looks like. All my live tiles are working. But I came from Win 8.1 on a Dell Inspiron 3542.

Did you go to your manufacturer's site to see whether they've got info/FAQS?

The main reason I'm trying to fix any, (and All), errors, issues, etc., so I can get a good backup.

I have so many different things not working correctly, since the upgrade, it has been real time consuming. If I get one thing fixed, I find something else that is not working. I have still been trying to get the Live Tiles to work correctly. Some of them work, others don't. My wife's PC, that I upgraded from Win10, seems to be working fine except for Win Media Player. The folder is there, but the upgrade removed some files to make it work. I have the MSU for it, but when I try to reinstall Win10 cries: "This program is not supported on this Platform." I find it interesting that when I updated mine it kept Win Media Player. That is the one thing I would hate to lose if I go with a fresh new image. I don't like the fact that we now have to pay for that program, exspecially since I had it to begin with.

I think going from 8/ 8.1 to Win10 works a lot better than jumping from Win7.

I sure wish MS would create a Registry Analyzer/ Repair program that would go through the Registry and find issues and repair them. I know there are third party ones, I use Glary Utilities, but sometimes they make things worse.

I was lucky to have a smooth upgrade from Win 8.1 on this Dell Inspiron 3542. It did seem - browsing these newsgroups - that most horrid experiences arose when the upgrade was from Win 7. But at least yours is up & running, though with issues having you think re-do.

The metadata staging errors are only for idle, lucky ones to play with, so long as the devices do get serviced. And you see that in event 112 (one for each 131), as Rusty-45 & others said, in "Microsoft-Windows-DeviceSetupManager/Admin" (I briefly had reverted to the bad URL)...

You really do utilize your machine much more than I do mine. This time (I'm sure you thought it, yourself), make a strategic system image backup after you have installed all your programs. Get a nearer starting point!
