Update KB2862330 repeatedly fails to install on Windows 7.

    Hi Susan, where is the link to the re-offering of KB2862330?

    I am wary that I may download the original offering accidentally, since I had to force a shutdown when it partially installed back in October. I was lucky that my system did not have to be restored, but have hidden the update ever since, and watched this forum for a fix.

    If you are confident that the re-offering is a fix, I will download and install using the appropriate link.

    I wonder why the re-offering is not through the usual Windows updates - (I am not really tech-savvy, but do keep my system clean - perhaps the problems with the original offering prevent it from being offered again as a normal update, but a lot of people will have hidden the original offering and their usb ports presumably aren't therefore fully secure).

The re-released update addresses an issue in the original offering that caused the KB2862330 update to fail or only partially install on some systems with third-party USB drivers. If you are running an affected system, you will be re-offered the new update and we encourage you to install it at the earliest opportunity."

    P.S. My wifes notebook for work also have Windows 7 x64 and he is also updated with 2862330 without a problem.

    I am on Windows 7, but I like to keep Windows XP as a second OS on my hdd.

    Any news on fixing that 2862330 (Windows XP)?

    On Windows 7 x64 in my case, 2862330 doesn't make any problems although 2533552 is already installed.

    And there is one more thing which I don't understand.

    IF, 2533552 is valid update and it is offered through Windows Update, why people are complaining on 2862330?

    Three days ago, my friend bought a new PC with Windows 7 Home x86 disc.

    He asked me to install Windows on his new PC.

    Anyway, I've installed that Windows with SP1.

    Many updates are shown on WU and also 2862330.

    All of them are installed properly.

    No problems.

    I double checked WU.....and everything was OK.

    I noticed 2862330 problem only on XP.

    On my PC, Windows 7 x64 is also properly updated and all updates properly installed.

    Also on my notebook, Windows 7 x86 is also properly updated.

    Those are 3 different PC without 2862330 problem.
