What exact wireless keyboard and mouse are you using?

Logitech Solar keyboard and mouse K750.  Purchased in Switzerland btw, not sure same as USA.

Incidentally, thanks for all help you can provide

What device encryption virus? If you are referring to CryptoLocker, that doesn't have anything to do with this?

But I agree, I'll push for easier instructions as this needs work.

FYI, some known issues have been posted here.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2862330/EN-US

Ben, the symptoms of my problem are different than one described in the article you point out.  As I said in a previous post (see below).  Any hint you can provide me?  Shall I try to apply update again but disconnect all USB devices first?  Including getting a wired keyboard and mouse?

Thanks in advance for all help

"Hello, I have also issue with KB2862330, however rather than BSOD I hit the problem that my USB system was not working anymore (including wireless keyboard and mouse).  A System Restore fixed the problem.

If useful the system is an OEM one with an Intel board DZ77SL-50K

Also and with reference to previous posts, I have KB2533552 installed on my system.

Now I have hidden the update, and I am awaitng for a fix by Microsoft. Any news on this?"
