Update KB2862330 repeatedly fails to install on Windows 7.

Obviously a lot of people are having problems with this update. In reading through the threads, it seems to me that the common element is that the update will not install. How it fails seems it have at least 3 variants (all on the restart phase in which it hangs): (1) on reboot it reverts back, (2) on reboot it fails to revert back requiring a system restore fix from a repair disc, and (3) it causes a BSOD.
Some people have suggested security software is causing this. I use AVIRA, ZoneAlarm, Spybot & Malwarebytes. It doesn’t make sense to me that this would be obviously our computers via update thinks it is.
My solution, at the moment, is to assume it is not needed and hide it in update.
I tend to believe that the majority of people have not had this problem which makes me think that what is it about our machines that is causing this. My computer is otherwise fully updated and is regularly scanned for problems. Other than this, I’m not experiencing any other problems.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could actually get a comment from Microsoft about this!!!

alas I have not had the problems others are experiencing, just that it keeps wanting to install when it already is installed.. I like your idea HIDE IT in the update. I shall do that myself for sure.

Many people have installed this update successfully, and if it is being offered to your computer it is likely that you are impacted by the security vulnerability. It would not be a valid assumption that because the update fails to install, you are not impacted.
We can offer anyone who has this issue and is willing to go through troubleshooting a free-of-charge support incident and Support will work with you 1-1 to get your computer(s) back into a working state. The teams who released this update do know that there may be a problem and are doing additional testing to identify the root cause of the issue that folks are experiencing.

If your point is that computer OSS (including Mac, etc.) are vulnerable to security exploits, you're right!
When you have more time, I really really need to get a case set up for you. Because you have unique usb drivers, I need to get someone to get deeper into your system.
