can't update to 8.1 0xc1900101-0x20017

Did you get it to work on an Asus laptop, model U43F???   I reformatted my hard drive on my U43F and it does not have a reserved partition and would not upgrade to windows 8.1.  Please repost and tell us what model you had success so many of us that need this solution can share it.  Thanks

im replying to confirm that i tried this person's solution for upgrading to Windows 8.1 and it worked for me! This solution will ONLY work if you are missing the system reserved partition that for some reason disappeared when i upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro.

I can't tell you how glad i am that i finally got this issue resolved. Hope this helps other people who were having the same issues.

Hi, I had lots of support sessions, still nothing. Microsoft cay it is a Bios pnot determine the problem, and they say it is a Bios problem, but there are no logs that prove it. I`ll go to Ubuntu, it is free and it us upgradeable. Disappointed with Microsoft...

Chuckc3, Thanks for the info on upgrading to windows 8.1. After several hours with more than 5 different Microsoft technicians using remote access on my asus U43F, I saw them use some powerful MS software and diagnostic programs to try to identify our problem. Several different logs on my computer were viewed and each technician discussed them with their so called expert shift supervisors and think tank. They loaded software on my computer which monitored the installation and will be using it for future investigations. One of my attempts to load windows 8.1 on the asus was to use a working copy of 8.1 and reimage the hard drive using Acronis true image. The attempt also resulted in the same error codes even though this wasn't an installation type of upgrade. That leads me to believe that your statement about Asus needing to resolve this. Seems like something in the asus chipset, bios or motherboard configuration may be involved in this inability to run 8.1.  My asus runs 8.0 great so I will just stay with it until I am ready to challenge this problem again. Other brands of laptops have this same problem as noticed on several blogs.  Also, you are correct in saying 8.1 won't loose your apps but it always looses my programs like ms office and other like application software. I have seen this more than 20 times. If you find out any more information on this issue, please share it with all of us, I sure would like to run 8.1 on my laptop. I have an asus mother board desktop and it runs 8.1 great. Would love to hear from anyone out their that has any success upgrading to windows 8,1 on Asus U43F laptops
