can't update to 8.1 0xc1900101-0x20017

Tried to the new release 8.1 today 10/17.  My desktop was successful, but my laptop failed with can't update to 8.1 0xC1900101-0x20017.

I have read a clean install may be required. I have just installed windows 7 then upgraded to windows 8 about one month ago. Is there a way of downloading an ISO image for 8.1 and a key to due a clean install of 8.1 without paying $150.

The laptop is a ASUS U43F with a Crucial M500 960GB SSD.

    I am also facing same problem of error "system_thread_exception_not_handled" while upgrading to windows 10.

    Anyone with the solution please help.

    Using ASUS U43F, 6GB ram, 750GB HDD, Intel U43 motherboard.
