Had the same problem and DiaconuDaniel's solution worked for me as well - took a while to recreate the index but then everything was fine - Thanks

Hello Everyone. Since I disabled all file types under Indexing Options, one at a time, I haven't seen Microsoft Search Filter Host at all! It's been over 30 days now! I check several times a day, and nothing!

That's 1 problem I have fixed with 8.1 pro 64 bit. Now, if I could just get full control of Antimalware Service Executable!!!! That is another problem I have been working on! When this little **** kicks in I just walk away!!! It's All I can do, other than shutting the computer off and beating it with a HAMMER!!! It takes it's own sweet time and renders the computer useless while Microsoft is probably Kicked back laughing at us all!!!! If you stop it, windows shuts down!! Sure could use a hot fix for this one!!! I have read every post on this site. And so far I haven't a cure for this yet!! It just does what it wants, regardless of what I want!!!

But Microsoft has given up!! Moved on to windows 10, and took a **** on XP, that worked. If anyone finds a cure for this problem, I will be the first person to say thank you!!! Windows users shouldn't have to deal with all these problems. Microsoft thinks they OWN us. They can do whatever they want. We live in the age of remote control. If you don't see what you want just change the channel!!! In this case you can just switch to MAC!!!!!!!!!!! That will solve a lot of problems!!!! Wake up Microsoft!!! Your days are numbered!!!

One down and 1 to go.

      Muchofreeo.
