Very disappointed. Having the same problem here and very frustrating.
Arc Touch Mouse Scroll stops working
Hi,
I'm using Win 7 (32 bit) with the MS arc Touch mouse software and drivers installed. Running on HP TX2 Touchsmart Tablet.
I'm facing a problem with my mouse with regards to the scroll function.
After "switching on" the mouse, there is a green led light and everything seems to work. The green LED then disappears, presumably to save battery.
However, after a short period of time, the scroll function will not work at all. There is no scroll "feedback" felt from the scroll strip either. But when I flatten the mouse and turn it back on again, everything works as per normal.
But after some time, the same problem resurfaces. Then, I have to turn the mouse off and back on again. Sometimes, the scroll function "turns" itself back on automatically. But most of the time, it just stops working altogether.
This is very irritating. It seems nobody else have encountered this issue.
Please help!!

2018-07-07T05:51:55+00:00 Good call, I know I will never buy another Microsoft surface mouse even if there are no reported problems because I just don't trust the design, plus they've thrown the customers who do buy from them under a bus. Wrong me once shame on you, wrong me twice shame on me.

2018-07-06T16:37:23+00:00 Hi Chris,
I feel for you. I went through three Arc Touch, Surface Edition Bluetooth mice before surrendering. It was always the same problem. Many customers thought that they'd found a fix, but invariably, everyone walked away exasperated and frustrated. Nothing worked.
Microsoft never formally acknowledged that there was a fatal defect, but the acknowledgement was tacit. When they released the Surface Arc Mouse, it actually worked. They must have discovered what the problem was and made sure that it didn't recur in their new design.
It's Microsoft's false denials and lack of accountability to customers despite public reports from countless disappointed customers stretching back very many years that's so outrageous and completely unacceptable. Microsoft is a money-making machine that ultimately doesn't care about customers, most especially consumers, since the company makes its money primarily by selling to businesses.
The company's approach to problems is to deny, then begrudgingly replace and hope for the best, until they can release a new hardware iteration and then sweep the old failures under the rug by neither selling nor supporting them and hoping that the din of the fiasco will recede in the marketing glow of the newly launched products. And I'm sad to say that they've gotten away with it!
If this were a $20 mouse, perhaps fewer customers would care, although Microsoft should always do the right thing. But this is an $80 mouse, plus sales tax! That's no small purchase. Microsoft should replace every Arc Touch, Surface Edition mouse with a free Surface Arc Mouse, own up to its past hardware failures, and apologize.
Your time is valuable, and I worry that if you keep messing around with your mouse's hardware, you might not have anything to show for it except lost time and frustration. I wish you every success, but so far, no one here has been able to find a real solution. After a placebo period of a few days or weeks, the problem always reasserts itself.
Good Luck,
Steve

2018-07-05T16:17:03+00:00 I have made further modifications to my mouse. I used a little bit of electrical tape and tape up the end of the scroll sensor and that seems to make it work 100% of the time so far (see attached picture). My electrical tape just so happens to be yellow, but you can use regular black tape.
Another note, if after doing this and it seems like your scroll is working (use File Explorer and just scroll up and down to test) but your vibration motor is not working, you might have a loose motor connection. So what I did with that was to take it apart, there are 2 very small screws inside the battery compartment. Remove the sticker to get access to the screws, remove the screws then use your finger nail or a credit card to pry the top button panel off. Underneath there you will see the black and red wire attached to a metal rectangular motor. Unplug it, then use a little cloth pin and just poke at the little metal connection. Basically, what you are doing is squeezing the little metal tab so that is makes a better connection. Put everything back and see if that works for you.
