Arc Touch Mouse Scroll stops working

Hi,

I'm using Win 7 (32 bit) with the MS arc Touch mouse software and drivers installed. Running on HP TX2 Touchsmart Tablet.

I'm facing a problem with my mouse with regards to the scroll function.

After "switching on" the mouse, there is a green led light and everything seems to work. The green LED then disappears, presumably to save battery.

However, after a short period of time, the scroll function will not work at all. There is no scroll "feedback" felt from the scroll strip either. But when I flatten the mouse and turn it back on again, everything works as per normal.

But after some time, the same problem resurfaces. Then, I have to turn the mouse off and back on again. Sometimes, the scroll function "turns" itself back on automatically. But most of the time, it just stops working altogether.

This is very irritating. It seems nobody else have encountered this issue.

Please help!!

    Hi Franc,

Based on the many years that people have complained about this problem here and on the Microsoft Store reviews, and Microsoft's complete failure to acknowledge it in any way, I agree with you. This problem will never be fixed. This is a two-button mouse with a scroll strip that doesn't let you reliably scroll.

I recommend Logitech, which always works. Always. Like you, I also need a small mouse that can be put in a tight space, so I use the Logitech T630.

MS should be forced to repackage this as a two button mouse. None of those solutions work and you know it. It's false advertising is what it is and MS should be taken to task for it. (I can't 'cause MS kindly sent me a free replacement - with the same issue! outside of the warranty period).

Having said that, if you can live with two buttons it is a fantastic mouse. I use it with my Surface Pro 3 in the office because when flattened away it takes up next to no space when travelling. Battery life is excellent and for bluetooth connectivity I've found it to be flawless...

BUT - if you can't live without a middle button (altho fixing it is just a case of flatten then reopen - until the next time), steer well clear. It's never going to be fixed.

    Hi Manabu,

I've owned two Arc Touch, Surface Edition mice. I purchased the first one--$80 is a crazy amount to spend!--because I liked the design. After the hardware scroll strip bug appeared, I was able to get a replacement from Microsoft. But that mouse, too, had the hardware bug. I then gave up for a long time.

Three days ago, I decided to purchase a new one and see if it worked. It didn't. I returned the mouse yesterday for my money back.

Of the three Arc Touch, Surface Edition mice that I've owned, NONE have worked. This is very clearly a hardware flaw, and another example of Microsoft not caring about its customers. They just want our money.

To everyone considering this mouse: DON'T BUY IT OR YOU'LL BE SORRY. You'd be throwing your money away. Just get a Logitech MX Master and be done with it.

I bought two of the ArcTouch SE mousse over a period of about a year apart, and the same scroll issue exist on both so I do not think that this issue has been addressed.

On both, the same issue. It just stops the scrolling feature without any reproducible way to demonstrate where and when this happens. It appears to be that if I don't use scrolling for a while, it just stops, but then it also stopped in the middle of scrolling as well.

I am sure MS is very well aware of the situation as I am sure many of the employees are also using and having the same issue. I am guessing but given this is a hardware issue in the mouse itself, it would be extremely difficult to update the firmware and such.

Hopefully they will address this issue soon. I am willing to buy a new one if that fixes the issue.

    Hi Manabu,

We suggest that you check this link and proceed with Solution 8 and 9 to troubleshoot the issue.

    Regards.
