The people on this forum cannot be serious.
You total morons can't understand the concept even after it has be explained thoroughly.
Yes it has a Blu Ray drive. So burn files to a Blu Ray disk and surprise, surprise... ...you can view them.
But Blu Ray was an expensive technology to develop. And while Sony, Apple, Dell, HP and about 15
other companies were involved in the development of Blu Ray via The
BDA (BluRay Disc Association), Microsoft was (Intentionally) excluded.
It's not a case of them not being able to include the codec and it's not a case of them wanting to sell you additional software. It's a case of
IF THEY INCLUDE IT, THEY WILL BE SUED FOR DAMAGES, ALL KINDS OF THEFT AND COPYRIGHT.
They don't own or have the right to distribute the Blu Ray codecs.
Asking Microsoft why you cant play Blu Ray movies on Windows & is exactly the same as asking why they haven't included software that lets you play PS3 games?
It's got the hardware capabilities right? So why not?
I can even open up a PS3 game and copy files, open them up, etc. And Microsoft are probably capable of creating an emulator to play PS3 games in windows. But do you not understand the legal consequences of this sort of thing?
The hardware and the software included with a Windows PC does what it is supposed to do.
It reads and it writes to Blu Ray disks. I can open up a Blu Ray disk, copy files, burn to it, mount it with Alcohol 120%, play .wmv files from it with no problems.
I'm open to any questions or comments on anything I've mentioned but don't bother repeating the last 30pages of "It should be included"
Buyer Beware.
