Surface Pro 3 Type Cover Not Working, In BIOS/UEFI or Windows 10 after 1803 Update

As indicated from the instructions, they won't allow you to install an older version.

The Firmware Update Tool is not too interesting. It's something that will add an item "Microsoft Surface Firmware" in your device manager that'll allow you to update firmware. And the way to update is to copy the package to somewhere in EFI partition of your motherboard, then set a special flag in boot loader to tell it to invoke firmware update function in UEFI on the next boot.

So to enable firmware downgrade, you'll need to compile a version of firmware that have greater version and removes firmware version check on update. Then install it and use it to load the lower version you want to install.

EDIT:  The TPM update is not it. And seems none of the files here are the firmware package.  Will need to find it elsewhere.

Humm... How did you install "an older version of firmware"?

When you try to install a previous version of firmware, it'll tell you it's older version and won't let you install it, and there's no option to rollback to a previous version.

That's how everyone who suffered this problem got stuck in the situation.

I downloaded the package manually.

Right clicking on the .info file and clicking install does the trick.

What file do you have that tells you that it is older file?

If it is a proper flasher, I may be able to hack it ignoring the check of version before installing, and also flashing the whole ROM it is quite possible that will do the trick.

If you have the proper flasher but doesnt let you install it bbecause it is older version send it to me and I will see it at somepoint this weekend

For any Brits you should write to MS in Reading and ask for repair or replacement under section 46 of the consumer rights act (2015), by doing this I now have tier three support in the USA trying to resolve the problem. The more who write the greater is the chance of a fix.

Write the to MS in Reading.. email or something? Seems like you know something more than we do so tell us exactly what we should do to speed up the process..
