Surface Pro 3 Type Cover Not Working, In BIOS/UEFI or Windows 10 after 1803 Update

My Surface Pro 4 Keyboard with Touch is no longer being recognized by my Surface Pro 3 after updating to 1803.

I have disconnected and reconnected dozens of times.

I have cleaned my connectors on both the Surface Pro and the Keyboard unit.

I have uninstalled the keyboard in Device Manager, as well as the mouse however the only things showing up there are HID compliant Mouse and Keyboard, nothing that says Surface or Type Cover.

I have hard reset the device several times (Volume Up and Power), also booting into UEFI/BIOS several times where the keyboard also does not work.

I registered my device with Microsoft to of course be told it is Out of Warranty.

I am in the process of downloading the Recovery Image from 2015 from a trustable 3rd party website since I cannot find any links to the recovery image on Microsoft's website.  This will I think put me back in time to before the 1803 update as far as Windows is concerned, however I am not sure if that will fix my problem since it is not being recognized in the BIOS.

Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I guess misery loves company. Lol. I was thinking of upgrading to a surface pro 6 before this happened but absolutely will not until they can get this fixed for me. How hard can it be to release a patch for this that seems to affect so many people

Hey Wendy I think I worked it out to a degree. When I fully charged my battery again after getting my type cover to work again, I closed the type lid cover onto the tablet and with it's settings it went into sleep/shut down mode then it disappeared again.

This is after I tried every other approach listed on the internet, uninstalling driver, cleaning connection point, hard resetting, re-installing windows the whole kit and caboodle.

So with it not working again I changed the type cover settings so that it won't effect the operation of the surface pro such as shut down and sleep. I then kept draining the battery until it needed to be charged. Took a few goes to work but when it drained enough it allowed the surface pro 3 to connect back with the type cover.

I've now open and closed my cover with the new settings and it doesn't effect the cover. I'll now see how it goes once fully charged and I manually put the sp3 into sleep or shut down mode to see if it also continues to work.

So it's definitely something more maybe in the updates of firmware which has been missed.

Same here. Auto update killed my type cover on12-26-18. Tried all solutions. Nada. Even recovered machine. Nothing. There doesn't appear to be a type cover in device manager at all. I purchased a new cover and attached it. It lit up and allowed me to enter pin but then went dark and dead. Ms needs to fix this

My type cover also no longer works on my Surface Pro 3. The type cover itself isn't broken as it works on my friend's SP4. His type cover doesn't work on my SP3. Have tried everything to fix it, without luck. Please fix it Microsoft!!!!
