For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

Just went into the Microsoft store in New York and asked about this problem there. First guy didn't seem interested in the issue. Just said to bring the device in and walked off. Asked another lady in store. She didn't know what hibernate was. Hopefully a fix will be issued soon

does it ever happen when plugged in or only when on battery power?

    >>I had suspected the same. But the issue still occurs after I disabled the "save me power when my device knows I'm away" option.

I'm sure they are looking at this (but they don't announce fixes until one is

actually available). If it were ME, I would return the device and repurchase

(don't exchange). If you are in the US, one of the physical retail Microsoft

Stores MAY have the model you purchased in stock and if they do, they would

exchange for you there. The list is at

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/locations/ - you should call ahead and see

if they have the model in stock.

My new Surface Pro isn't doing this (at least not yet).

    >>Any plans on Microsoft fixing this ? looks like I will need to return the device
