My type cover does not work and I left my surface aside the battery drained. I put it in the socket and the type cover worked. What will it be?

Surface | Surface Pro | Power and battery

I had my sp3 working reasonably well for months. The most recent firmware update installed may 2019 broke it again with this same keyboard issue. I stupidly had it in airplane mode with wifi on when I installed the updates. Will see if battery drain works again.

There is one fix for this issue that works.

Now when I say works, I'm saying this is the only fix that rights the issue and gets working hardware back into your hands. Nothing I've researched online or heard directly from Microsoft employees has been able to make the keyboard fully usable again. I even tried emailing Microsoft executives but received no serious response beyond tech support. Go to your closest Microsoft store and explain the issue, showing that any warranty or even treating your device like a precious diamond would not have been able to protect the device from being rendered completely useless by their update.

The guy at my store ended up replacing it with a Surface Pro 2017 (SP5). To be fair, he said he was going to try to give me a Surface Pro 4 but they were all out of stock. I don't think he had permission to do this, but I was prepared to cause a scene if I didn't receive a working device. He also said that I shouldn't go posting my story on any forums (like this one). The only reason you all are hearing this is that Microsoft needs to know how their internal policies affect customers. I won't be buying another Microsoft product when this thing reaches its end unless I see some serious overhaul with their company, and I encourage each of you to do the same. They will not see the error of their ways unless we step outside their convenient and comfortable monopoly and individually pressure for replacements until they see the financial detriment of treating their customers like trash over this keyboard issue.

I'm sure many customers were affected by this issue and ended up just replacing their device, something that I consider downright unacceptable. We need a public apology and acknowledgement of this issue, Microsoft. Until I receive that, we will not be doing any further business.
