Type Cover not Working but ...

Microsoft said you can trade it in and get a pro 4 for $600. I asked the employee would you buy another one that stops working after a year?  They said no and I said me either.  Microsoft doesn't care and the employees act surprised like they have never heard about this issue.......  doubt it.  Just buy the bluetooth keyboard and stop trying.  It works great.

my keyboard died after an update I didn't even say I wanted . 

I bought a new cover and still it doesn't work

battery also doesn't seem to be holding charge

really annoyed that I can't undo the update or switch back

wjy would Microsoft kill the keyboard it is so unfair

im out of warranty and purchased used so I have no come back

its unfair - surely if they broke it they can fix it

does anyone know anyway that it can be fixed? Would love to callgeeks to u or something or anyone that knows how to fix 

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to fix it, only work around it.

The updates that caused the problem are not something that can be reversed by the user, only MS can get into the deeper part of the system that is the problem. They have not done anything about fixing the problem yet and I don't think they are motivated to do so.

Your typecover is not the problem. Your cover will still work on a functioning Surface. Many users with the problem have taken the cover to a store and tried this out, including me. My workaround was to buy a bluetooth keyboard. It's a pity that you spent good money on a new typecover and you are probably not the only person to do that.

And I also have the battery drain problem, which is a nuisance when I'm away traveling and from home. It means I get to a motel and plug it in as it's mostly drained through the day.

I'm waiting for my Surface to fail completely and will buy something else next time. This was a $2,000 waste of money.

I have spoken to the Office of Fair Trading in Australia. I would suggest, if you're in Australia and suffering with this Type Cover issue, to do the same.

What is the result of your conversation with Fair Trading? I'm another Australian with the type cover issue but don't see what the fair trading office can do.
