This thread is over a year old and still no solutions? How is that possible?
I have a Surface 3 Pro running Win10. My type cover worked fine until the last update. This is NOT a hardware issue. Brand new type covers do not work on this machine and my type cover works fine on other machines. So it is not the cover!
I have tried all the typically suggested solutions: two finger shutdown, firmware update, PC reset, deleting HID driver and reinstalling the *.msi, running the diagnostic tool, etc... Nothing works.
And like others, if I power down and drain the battery completely, the Type Cover driver will magically reappear in the device manager and the type cover works again. But if I close the cover or power down without draining the battery, the type cover driver disappears and the surface no longer recognizes any type cover, new or old.
Very disappointed to see others having the same problem for a long time and no response from Microsoft.
Why ask me to keep Windows 10 updated for security, when the update itself is more dangerous and damaging than any virus?
If this is a plan to get me to buy a new surface, it is a stupid plan. I will never buy another Surface again.
