Type Cover not Working but ...

My type cover does not work and I left my surface aside the battery drained. I put it in the socket and the type cover worked. What will it be?

    RE: Surface Pro 4

    Spent a couple of hours on the phone with Microsoft in the Philippines, and did a safe-reinstall of Windows so as not to lose any files.

    Issue with Type Cover not resolved. The next step would be to perform a USB Windows image reinstall, but I'm not ready to do that right now.

    Now yesterday had my Surface Pro 3 on charge at work, Type Cover not working, no driver "Surface Type Cover Filter Device" installed in keyboards in Device Manager.

    Took it home and left it in its bag over night. 

    Now back at work and started it, noticed 2 things:

    1: Keyboard is working ("Surface Type Cover Filter Device" is now installed)

    2: Battery is at about 50%

    What is happening. I used to be able to leave the Surface on for a very long time without the battery running so flat.

    OK yes the battery is a 3 years old (I have an original 12V battery in my car that is 11 years old and still cranking), but this detrition should be gradual, not "BANG- I am buggered!"

    So what has happened to my Surface?

    Is it running in the background even after shutdown some heavy duty App or process?

    Why is the Surface Type Cover Filter Device driver removed when the battery is at full charge and the surface removed from charge?

    Did the odd Flashing charge light a month ago have anything to do with this (I suspect so)?

    If so what happened to cause this?

    The evidence is clear. Now all we need is answers from MS.

    Bit more investigation since the above.

    Microsoft Store                       14%

    Microsoft OneDrive                 14%

    Mobile Plans                            4%

    all others                                  1~2%

    Why is MS store sucking my battery dry?

    OK OneDrive, inefficient as buggy but at least it is doing something.

    So direct questions to MS:

    What is Microsoft store doing that need so much power?

    Is this App closing on shut down?

    "I will add, that there is no device driver listed in Device Manager for the cover keyboard."

    When my keyboard cover isn't working, it NEVER shows up in Device Manager, because it isn't recognized by the tablet at all.  When I finally get it to work for short periods, it shows up in Device Manager, but it always says its working properly.  90% of the time I have to use the on-screen keyboard, like I'm doing right now.  It's annoying, as I like using the Touchpad.

    I am getting the same issue.. there then gone. I am not convinced it is Hardware. Cheers
