Surface Go uefi version is 1.0.34 and No Bootable Device error

Recently receiving "No Bootable Device" error on Surface go running UEFI 1.0.34.

I've tried all the recovery disk options without success.

Have also noticed a few reddit threads with similar issues with this version in the last week or so

Anyone else seen this and managed to recover their device?

I have lodged multiple support tickets, confirmed there is no way for a user to roll back this firmware update.

I have also lodged a complaint here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoftfeedback

Edit: 11/7 - After 5-6 weeks I've finally been able to send it back and it's been a fee-free replacement. It has been a lot of back and forth and mentioning this thread with so many other instances of it.

Still waiting for someone to lodge this as a firmware issue.....and remove that version of the firmware from Microsoft site.

I've gone round in circles a few times all ending in them wanting me to pay for a replacement. I haven't heard anything since I asked them to confirm these steps actually roll back the firmware change as it was my understanding firmware changes required you to hand over the device.

    The last reply was:

"The case was already escalated that is why our Extended Support take over your case and the email they sent to you was the best resolution for their end. I can re-escalate the case, however, you will may receive the same resolution from them.

If the issue is a firmware or software, the troubleshooting steps can fix it. However, if all the steps are performed but still the issue remain, that's the time we can confirm that it's already a hardware issue.

Should you need further assistance, please contact us back by Phone or Online and we would be happy to help.

    Best regards,

I feel like sometimes it's like they don't read our commentaries. Support ain't helping Steven as our devices aren't on warranty anymore. You guys need to figure out a alternative to help us. It's not like only 2 devices aren't responsive anymore. Plenty of people on reddit are complaining about the same issue that we are both experiencing.

Please open a ticket on that problem over at Microsoft.

I've created an item in feedback hub aswell ... if you want to go upvote it there also...

    Hello Bronwen Zande,

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We're sorry to hear about this issue on your device. Definitely not the experience we want you to have.

If I may ask, have you tried booting to UEFI and checked if it displays a drive icon with an X in the top right corner?

Please see How to get to the UEFI settings on a Surface and check it.

Just a heads up, if it displays the drive icon then it's already a hardware failure. You might need to contact our support via Contact Us Microsoft Support to seek options for your device and real-time assistance. You can also contact them via phone, see Global Support Phone Numbers.

For detailed instructions on how to contact our support, you might want to see this thread: click here.

If this answers your question, please let our Community know by marking this post as an answer. This helps others who may have the same concern as you.

    Kind regards,

    StevenK
