Battery Drains While Shutdown

I have read many posts and made many attempts to correct this problem without any success.

I was traveling for 3 months and when I returned the battery was completely dead.

Also, each night since my return, the battery drains as much as 12% overnight while shutdown.

I have all MS updates but the problem continues.

Please advise.

THX! :)

    It would be much appreciated if somebody from Microsoft finds some time to help - it seems that this is not an issue caused by users, but by either bad design or production error, which is on the side of MS. So far, MS has failed to offer any constructive advices on how to try to fix the problem.

    i did a complete win 10 reinstall including wiping my hard drive.  With ONLY win 10 AND The latest April 2018updates installed, there was STILL a battery loss.  No other programs were installed, not even Office 365 and yet two nights in a row, I experienced a battery loss at night during a complete shutdown.  Nor did I make any changes to any of the win 10 default settings.  please advise.

    This is the answer:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surflaptop-surfperf/how-do-i-disable-connected-standby-on-my-surface/3404fcdf-6f68-4168-b40a-9126ef657879

    Navigate through the registry by expanding these Keysets: HKLM > System > CurrentControlSet > Control > Power > CsEnabled. Change the value from 1 to 0 and restart.

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\CsEnabled (1->0) (change from 1 to 0 and restart)

    Hi,

    Seems that the root cause of this issue is a possible software issue.  Have you considered uninstalling the update and install the update manually? We also suggest that you allow the battery to drain while it is on so your Surface will shut down. Once the device shuts down, connect it to a power source until it is fully charged. Repeat the process for the battery to be calibrated. We will be waiting for your update.

    Thanks.
